I spent thirty years doing the books for small Calgary shops, everything from a welding outfit in Foothills Industrial to a pierogi place on 17th Ave that paid me partly in pierogies. I retired in 2024 and lasted about six weeks before I got bored. Now I help regular people understand their taxes, TFSAs versus RRSPs, what you can actually write off, and how to not panic when the CRA sends you a letter. Plain language, no jargon. In the garage I build cedar furniture from fence boards I rescue after every big Calgary windstorm, and there are a lot of big Calgary windstorms.
